Hello Leaf Nation it’s been awhile since I put my thoughts into a blog, so please excuse the rust, and of course the usual grammatical and spelling errors. First off, I would like to thank everyone that has become a follower of our site, video podcast, Twitter and Facebook page. We continue to grow at a furious pace and we hope to keep bringing you our realistic kool-aid free opinion, in regards to our beloved Leafs.
WeWantACup.com has been very lucky in having a great group of writers join the team. Scott C Wheeler, Dante Martella and Tommy Herr
Hey Nation, your not going to read the usual Leaf blog here. You have all read about our draft choices, prospects and UFA signings, over and over. Many of you are even experts of the subjects, way more qualified to type out your perspectives on the current situations, and predictions for the future. Therefore there is no need, for me to waste our precious time explaining how i feel about two right handed shots on one line being somewhat problematic.
By know you know me, I love the fact that I'm an average fan, I love that I'm part of the silent majority. My house is not adorned with Leaf memorabilia, I didn't name my kids Darryl and Wendel. With that being said I am a grateful man from Toronto, and like the millions of you who grew up with Leaf hero's I'm a proud member of Leaf Nation.
I believe that there is a much more important issue regarding our team, and our city. It's our pride and expectations. Conn Smyth once hung the following upon the walls of the Leaf's dressing room, in Maple Leaf Gardens. It read “The Toronto Maple Leafs Defeat Does Not Rest Lightly Upon Their Shoulders”.
God Bless Leaf NationGO LEAFS GO. Well. I say would you want the best for your family members. So if you think that my expecting the Leafs owners and managers to make them great unrealistic?
You think that my wanting playoffs and a cup to be to demanding? From when I was a child up into present day, many things have changed, many people have come and gone. One friend has been with me from day one that is the Leafs. Good or bad they have been playing in the background providing the escape, love, excitement and frustration needed.
They have always been there. And my greatest memory last year when my son said “go leafs go daddy”I remember sitting outside this summer,
Hi friends so picture this. You have your ultimate vacation plan done to the last detail. You arrive prematurely at Pearson Airport, tickets in hand insuring that you will have plenty of time to catch your flight. The anticipation and excitement grow as you watch the minutes tick by, freedom growing ever closer.
You take a quick glance at the T.V. hanging above showing the departure times, noticing your flight has been delayed by twenty minutes. You think to yourself no big deal this will not affect my plans.
Welcome to May, we are now into the conference finals which means we have four teams left in this year’s playoffs, we will then see another champion crowned. Whoever it is will deserve it, thanks for the hockey, whatever. Go Leaf Go. I did have a familiar Leaf hockey feeling this week but it wasn’t while watching the playoffs, I’d love to say it happened during the opening game of the Conference finals, where I became overwhelmed by that feeling of excitement and anticipation that I always get before the
If you want stats and trade news, prospect updates I can give you my opinion. I can tell you what it is that I think, but I am admittedly probably not your best source for the latest news. We will however, continue to give our thoughts and opinions as an average Toronto Maple Leaf fan. So here we go again. How much do the Leafs matter to us, how much are they part of our identity. Let’s take a look at a predominate group within Leaf Nation the “single male”. Having been a single male maple leaf fan at one point, and spending the better part of my life around single male Maple Leaf fans it has given me
The Leafs and my Ex-girlfriend Hey my friends, as you know by now here at www.wewantacup.com we blog about being an average leaf fan, and what it’s like to live as a part of the world’s greatest fan base,Leaf Nation. As great of an honour, as it is to be a Blue and White supporter,we can all admit that we expect better times in the near future. Alright so I have been watching the playoffs, The Nucks and Bruins in the finals. Personally I never thought I would not be cheering for the Canadian team in a final, but the Nucks are really hard to like. Leafs rule anyways. Though out these playoffs I have noticed something that is a little disturbing and brings up some unpleasant feelings, which I can only relate to what I call”seeing an ex”.
The Leafs, Michael Jackson, Grumpy Old Men and the Realist
Leaf fans, just when I thought that missing the playoffs again was about as disappointing as things could get for us this year. Just as I finally took solace, in the fact that we finished strong, and that at least the boat is pointed in seemingly the right direction. I didn’t realize there was yet another low point for us to deal with. Surprise, Mr. Tyler Seguin decided to have his coming out party during the first and second game of this year’s Conference finals. The kid was able to rack up six points in two games. What sucks even more is that he did it in such a convincing fashion,
Optimus Riem and the Autobuds Bring Leaf Nation Back to Life
It all started in a small pub in Toronto on a Saturday night, my buddies and I were sitting and watching a Leaf game. Half way through the first period a bunch of guys walked in, their numbers doubled ours. Nice guys but they wanted to watch the Raptors game. The owner changed the big screen to the basketball game. Hey !! we said to ourselves we like the Raptors as much as the next guy but on a Saturday night? I mean Don Cherry hadn't even been on yet!
We sat there stunned is this Toronto? Could it be? This would have been unheard of ten years ago.
